Implementation of specific activities in support of the Ministry of Trade

This project has the objective to provide technical assistance to the Market Regulation Agency (ARM) by elaborating two complementary studies aimed at: i) assisting the Market Regulation Agency (MRA) in defining its strategic orientations and strengthening its role as a support structure for the marketing of agricultural production, particularly the onion, mango, peanut, rice, milk, corn, banana, accompanied by interventions financed by the European Union and falling within the scope of its attributions. ii) with regard to the rice sector, conducting a study on the cost structure of rice produced and processed in Senegal. It also documents the costs of production and sale of Senegalese rice. Under the first objective, the technical assistance will carry out the following tasks: Perform an organizational diagnosis of the MRA; Analyze the role of the MRA in supporting the marketing of agricultural products falling within the scope of its attributions; Propose intervention strategies to reinforce the MRA and improve the marketing of the agricultural sector productions mentioned above. The second objective is declined under the following activities: Determine the components of the cost price of one hectare of paddy rice produced in northern Senegal, particularly in the Senegal River Valley and Delta; Determine the components of the cost price of one hectare of paddy rice produced in southern Senegal; Determine the costs associated with the processing of one ton of paddy; Determine the transactions and marketing margins of paddy rice and processed rice from the above-mentioned production and processing zones; Study the evolution of the price to producer / consumer price ratio
