Mapping and analysis of private sector in Burundi

Through an in-depth analysis, the Delegation of the European Union to Burundi would like to reflect on the role and capacities of the private sector in national and regional development in the short, medium and long term and the identification of recommendations to strengthen this role. To this end, ETI Consulting was contracted to carry out a qualitative mapping and a thorough analysis of the companies present in Burundi (national and international) by sector, nature and geographical location, and a support matrix which benefits the private sector with other donors. This mapping covers notably: Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats of the Formal Private Sector in Burundi Analyze the relations between the private sector and the Government - including analysis of the role of the authorities representatives of the private sector (Chamber of Commerce, sectoral associations, etc.) Analyze the level of private sector participation in the implementation of public decisions and economic impact Present growth and private sector job creation opportunities by sector of activity This mapping led to the provision of detailed recommendations for the development of the Burundian private sector (including to strengthen its internal collaboration, its ability to attract investment, its job creation capabilities qualified or not (by sectors), its innovation capabilities, its capacity to support training and professionalization of young people and adults, its regional and global internationalization).
