Strengthening the monitoring of eruptive activity of Nyiragongo and Nyamulagira volcanoes and institutional strengthening to ensure the sustainability of essential public services of the Goma Volcanological Observatory (VOG)

Objectives:

The overall objective is to contribute to the reduction of risks for the population and for the interventions financed by the European Union from the capacity building of the VOG - and the establishment of bases for the sustainability of the essential public services of the VOG.

The specific objectives are as follows:

Objective 1: Technically strengthen the VOG to refine the monitoring and risk analysis related to the exceptional activity of Nyiragongo and Nyamulagira volcanoes by capitalizing the support of previous projects financed by European cooperation.

Objective 2: Work towards the institutional and scientific strengthening of the VOG from targeted support to the training program and the promotion of study visits and scientific exchanges.

Objective 3: Strengthen the sustainability of essential VOG services from the development of partnerships or other strategies
