Technical Assistance to Support Malawi in Enhancement of Competition and Consumer Protection Regulation
In line with promoting efficient functioning of markets in Malawi, as well as ensure consumer protection from unfair trading practices, this project seeks to enhance the Competition and Fair-Trading Commission (CFTC)'s legal and technical capacity to enforce competition and fair-trading principles by business enterprises in all sectors of the economy. More specifically, the project aims to: To enhance the Commission's capacity in case handling and document management systems, including the adoption of IMS; To strengthen the Commission's legal frameworks through review of sectoral laws inconsistent with the competition and consumer protection law To enhance the Commission's capacity to effectively regulate and monitor digital market through market surveillances and market studies/inquiries; To strengthen the Commission's capacity in the enforcement of competition and consumer protection law through customized staff training
