Technical assistance for the Coordination Unit implementation for the interventions provided for in the Environment and Sustainable Agriculture Financing Agreement for the safeguarding of the DRC's priority biological sites N ° CD / FED / 037-685

Objectives Contribute to the protection and to the sustainable development of the biodiversity of the Garamba (APN), Salonga (WWF), Upemba (Forgotten Parks - CUK) and Virunga National Parks (VF) and the Yangambi Biosphere Reserve (CIFOR); Encourage and promote sustainable agricultural production, forestry and ecosystem services for the benefit of the socio-economic development of the populations bordering National Parks; Mitigate the deforestation of the natural ecosystem. Specific objectives Institutional strengthening and capacity building of relevant national authorities in the management and implementation of EU programs and projects: Strengthen ownership by relevant administrations and ensure program implementation that is consistent with the objectives of the financing agreement. Technical support to the operators: Support the operators (Coaching, training, brainstorming, prioritisation set up, date visualisation combined with digital indicators, etc..) on IMET. IMET is a Protected Area Management Effectiveness (PAME) tool that allows an in-depth assessment protected areas. It supports the identification of the urgency and conservation priorities. IMET combines the analysis of the protected area surrounding environment with the internal management assessment to obtain a clearer understanding of the management context and challenges. Support for the establishment of planning-monitoring-evaluation systems put in place by operators. Specific training is provided to use digital indicators created thanks to the combination of earth observation products and satellite images (deforestation, land cover, surface water etc..); Respond to the requests and needs expressed by the stakeholders and the beneficiaries on various stakes (eg. carbon expertise, human rights, communication, renewable energies, etc.) Technical support to the ICCN : support to the ICCN biodiversity strategy, support to the organisation of existing (not centralised nor harmonised) data on biodiversity in the whole RDC Technical support the EUD in its work with the Team Europe Initiative (TEI) to ensure synergies between the future activities of the EU Member States (mapping of existing initiatives in the environment/ Biodiversity sector) and support to the acceptance of common indicators
